Enjoy one of England’s finest views, strolling along the river Cam at the back of the great colleges, Kings, Trinity and St Johns. A wonderful array of university buildings is set among parkland and colourful gardens. To the north of the city are the flatlands of the Fens. Here, rising up like a great ship, is the magnificent medieval cathedral of Ely. Its crowing glory is the octagon, a lantern roof which replaced a collapsed central tower and unique in Gothic architecture.
